Last week, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced an extension and redesignation of Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Ukraine, Venezuela, and Sudan. This means that certain individuals are eligible to apply for TPS in the first instance, and current TPS beneficiaries must re-register their status during the 60-day re-registration period. Most beneficiaries will have their employment authorization documents (EAD) automatically extended for twelve months, as described below.

Ukraine

United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) announced, through a Federal Register Notice, that TPS for Ukraine has been extended through October 19, 2026. Additionally, the validity of certain EADs has been automatically extended. EADs showing category code A12 or C19, listing Ukraine as the country, and a "Card Expires" date of April 19, 2025 or October 19, 2023, have been automatically extended until April 19, 2026.

Venezuela

United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) announced, through a Federal Register Notice, that TPS for Venezuela has been extended through October 2, 2026. Additionally, the validity of certain EADs has been automatically extended. EADs showing category code A12 or C19, listing Venezuela as the country, and a "Card Expires" date of September 10, 2025, April 2, 2025, March 10, 2024, or September 9, 2022, have been automatically extended until April 2, 2026.

Sudan

United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) announced, through a Federal Register Notice, that TPS for Sudan has been extended through October 19, 2026. Additionally, the validity of certain EADs has been automatically extended. EADs showing category code A12 or C19, listing Sudan as the country, and a "Card Expires" date of April 19, 2025, June 30, 2024, December 31, 2022, October 4, 2021, January 4, 2021, January 2, 2020, April 2, 2019, November 2, 2019, or November 2, 2017, have been automatically extended until April 19, 2026.
